Profiles of Avril Lavigne

Profiles of Avril Lavigne

Born and raised in Napanee, Ontario mother Judy is a homemaker; dad John a phone company technician the budding star, who has a younger sister, Michelle, and older brother, Matthew, made her public debut singing country songs in one of the province's bookstores.

Her big break came at the age of 14 when she won a contest to sing a duet with fellow Canadian country music crooner Shania Twain. The teaming proved a tremendous hit, and soon after the young teen gave up her high school studies to pursue a career in music.

In 2000 the young talent moved to New York, where - after impressing the label's head honcho with her talent - she signed to Arista Records and was soon hard at work on her debut album Let Go

Boosted by the success of Complicated, its second hit single, the album went multi-platinum and made Avril a household name in her home country. Five Grammy nods and several honours from the Grammy's Canadian equivalent - the Juno Awards followed.

Debuting in May 2004, her second album Under My Skin, proved her vocal range and shot to number one around the world, selling more than 380,000 copies in the US in its first week.

Having proved herself on the international music stage, the young chanteuse was soon in demand for other projects. She performed at the closing ceremony of the February 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, and before long had made inroads into the silver screen by voicing a character in the animated flick Over The Hedge

Other acting projects have included a role in the big screen adaptation of the politically charged exposéFast Food Nation - in which she shared the screen with Patricia Arquette - and a movie about the Canadian paraplegic activist Rick Hansen.

Having burst into the spotlight wearing a largely black wardrobe and heavy eye make-up, the diminutive chart topper who is known to family and friends as Avie went on to develop a more sophisticated look. And in more recent times she is most likely to be seen in Chanel or Vera Wang.

And it wasn't only her signature neckties that Avril let go of. She also parted company with the troubled romantic past which had inspired the track Losing Grip on her first album. Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley had entered her life, and in July 2006 she wed the Canadian rocker in a California ceremony she described as "the biggest moment of my life".

However, three years later the couple decided to call it a day. Announcing the news on her website in September 2009, Avril said: "I am grateful for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship."

Profiles of Demi Moore

Profiles of Demi Moore
Let's check it out of Dmi Moore biography
Originally named Demetria Guynes, she was born in Roswell, New Mexico, on November 11, 1962.

Her family life was troubled from the outset, as her biological father walked out before she was born.

Although her mother later remarried, Demi's stepfather had trouble securing steady work and the family moved repeatedly, struggling to make ends meet.

And there were other challenges for the youngster to face, including an eye condition which required two operations to correct.

The surgery marked a dramatic turnaround in Demi's fortunes, however, as her looks began to open doors to professional opportunities. Having dropped out of school early, she briefly made a living as a debt collection agent before modelling opportunities took her to Europe.

The star admits to a sometimes troubled relationship with her appearance. Asked about her enviable and much talked-about physique, Demi says her fitness regime has more to do with low self-esteem than anything else.

"The perception was that I was so in love with my body, when in reality I was trying to overcome my insecurity," she once revealed.

The year she turned 18 was a bitter-sweet for the blossoming beauty. Her life was hit by tragedy when her stepfather committed suicide, but she also found happiness, tying the knot with 34-year-old rock musician Freddy Moore, whose surname she took.

Though the marriage itself was short lived, it proved a pivotal experience for the young performer. Having moved into Freddy's home, Demi found herself living next door to Nastassja Kinski, who inspired her to pursue a career in acting.

Her first break came in the soap General Hospital, which led to her big screen debut opposite Michael Caine in 1984's Blame It On Rio. The following year St Elmo's Fire launched her into the big time and also gave her a first taste of tabloid attention.

Later she would admit: "I got involved with drugs because I was young and not sure how to deal with my sudden burst of fame."

Having overcome a cocaine habit, Demi had some mixed fortunes in movie ventures before the 1990 mega-blockbuster Ghost brought global stardom. The film, in which she appeared opposite Patrick Swayze, made her one of Hollywood's hottest properties - and something of a public obsession.

The actress' brief engagement to Emilio Estevez, followed by her marriage to hunky action hero Bruce Willis, only served to fuel the media's appetite for Demi stories.

The actress appeared to revel in her new-found role, appearing naked at seven months pregnant on the cover of Vanity Fair and, when the ensuing frenzy began to dissipate, graciously obliging hungry journalists by doing it again. Her second Vanity Faircover portrayed her in the buff, sporting a painted-on man's business suit.

Demi's flirtation with risqu¨¦ roles gathered momentum through sexually charged films such as The Scarlet Letter, Disclosure and Indecent Proposal, before culminating in the critically-panned Striptease.

While garnering her few fans in the newspapers' art pages, the films made her the first woman to earn over $10 million a movie.

"You look at her body and her soul and all that she's done, and it makes her seem enviably accomplished," says her Charlie's Angels co-star Drew Barrymore. "She changed the business for women as far as saying women can get paid the same as men."

And when critics alleged that a body double had performed her more revealing scenes in Striptease, the characteristically forthright star disproved them by performing the much talked-about sequence live onThe Late Show With David Letterman.
"When people came after me for doing Indecent Proposal or Disclosure I thought, 'ridiculous'," she declared. "These people are trying to limit me as an actor. Are they saying I can't play these roles? Well, I've proved I can...

"There's this idea that if you take your clothes off, somehow you must have loose morals. There's still a negative attitude in our society towards women who use a strength that's inherent - their femininity - in any way that might be considered seductive."

Despite her frequent brushes with controversy, Demi also has a reputation as a devoted mother - she has three daughters with Bruce - as well as for her professionalism.

She also found success on the other side of the camera as a producer, with her credits including GI Jane and the hugely-successful Austin Powers series.

Her long-awaited return to the silver screen came in the form of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, in which the 5ft 5in actress proves she's still a force to be reckoned with.

While some will term her return to acting "a comeback", those who have followed her career know she never really went away.

While her marriage to Bruce Willis ended after 11 years, the two remain on good terms. They own estates across the street from each other in Hailey, Idaho and share custody of their children, Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.

Indeed the Die Hard star even gave his seal of approval to her new romance, with former Calvin Klein model Ashton Kutcher, by appearing at several showbiz parties along with the couple.

Bruce was also among the intimate group of 100 guests who went along to congratulate the pair when they made their vows in a traditional Kabbalah ceremony in September 2005.

The marriage was thought to be one of Hollywood's happiest until the couple were rocked by allegations that Ashton, 15 years her junior, had been unfaithful. In 2011, the husky-voiced star announced their divorce.

As to the future, there can be little doubt Demi will continue to seek out new challenges. As she once said: "I want things to be the best they can be, I want greatness."

Profile Of Sienna MIller

Profile Of Sienna MIller

Sienna Miller became a movie star.Because She Having a mother who once ran the famed Lee Strasberg drama school and the sort of classic blonde looks that make casting directors sit up and take notice, Add a stormy relationship with one of the silver screen's most high-profile heartthrobs and an original fashion sense to the mix, and you have a winning formula for Hollywood success.

Sienna was born in New York to American banker Ed and his glamorous South African wife Jo.

Growing up in London the young girl was in no doubt as to where her future lay, later commenting: "I've wanted to be an actress for as long as I can remember, and I can say I was almost born in the theatre.

"My mum went into labour while she was watching theNutcracker Suite in New York – apparently I was kicking like mad!"

Educated at an exclusive Ascot boarding school, Sienna returned to New York to study acting and made her film debut in 2001's South Kensington, alongside Rupert Everett and Rupert Everett and Elle Macpherson

However, it was not for another three years that she really made her mark, winning praise for her role alongside Daniel Craig in 2004 flick Layer Cake and starring in Alfie alongside Primrose Hill hunk Jude Law

The couple's on-screen relationship soon blossomed into a real life romance, and the glamorous pair made headlines with the news of his proposal on Christmas Day 2004.

However, as Sienna's star rocketed her love affair with Jude waned. In May 2005 the Talented Mr Ripleyactor admitted to cheating on his fiancée with his children's nanny, and she called off the engagement.

The pair tried to patch up their romance on various occasions, with one significant reconciliation in 2009, but the roller-coaster relationship finally ground to a halt the following year, with both admitting it was truly over.

After Alfie came solid roles in The Edge of Love, chronicling the life and loves of poet Dylan Thomas with Kiera Knightley and Factory Girl about Andy Warhol's muse Edie Sedgwick, to whom she bore an extraordinary resemblance.

"I think it's startling how accurate Sienna is," said the film's director George Hickenlooper.

Having directed several leading ladies at the start of their careers – including Naomi Watts and Renée Zellweger – George considered Sienna one of the most talented.

"She evokes the same kind of emotional response that I imagine Edie did," he enthused. "She's got so much charisma and effervescence."

Long before anyone could name any of her films, Sienna's wardrobe and boho sense of style had already landed her in fashion magazines, and for five years she headed her own label, Twenty8Twelve, with her sister Savannah.

In July 2012, aged 30, she bagged the most important role of her life. Becoming a mother for the first time, Sienna gave birth to a little girl Marlowe, whose father is On the Road actor Tom Sturridge, best friend of Robert Pattinson.

The Duchess of Cambridge (née Kate Middleton)

The Duchess of Cambridge (née Kate Middleton)

This is the biography of Kate Middleton.
All the latest news on William, Kate and Prince George
Back in 2000, as a pupil of Marlborough College, she can scarcely have imagined the implications her choice of university would have.

Reviewing the reading material for her course, she can have had little idea that a brush with one particular fellow student would mean all her decisions from fashion choices to the name of a new puppy would come under intense scrutiny.

Signing up for a degree in History of Art at St Andrews brought her into the orbit of William Arthur Philip Louis Windsor, second in line to the throne and the future King.

As housemates sharing a cottage in the Scottish town, Kate and the Prince fell for each other, and embarked on a romance that became a source of media interest across the world.

At St Andrews the duo were protected from tabloid scrutiny by a gentleman's agreement between newspaper editors and the royal household. The slender brunette, who did well in both her school and university exams, would have been all too aware that the bubble of privacy would burst as soon as they graduated, however.

University over, the Prince and his sweetheart moved to London where they found themselves facing new challenges. Kate set up home in the capital and accepted a position as a junior buyer with High Street fashion chain Jigsaw. Her royal beau, meanwhile, threw himself into the rigours of military training.

While her sudden celebrity can't have been easy for the young graduate, she handled herself with poise and dignity.

Catherine Elizabeth Middleton was born – the eldest of three children – on January 9, 1982, to Carol and Michael, both former British Airways employees.

She grew up in a modest home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, where her family ran a party supplies business. This stable middle class upbringing stood her in good stead during the transition period.

The romance between the Bucklebury lass and her blue-blooded beau appeared to be going from strength to strength, with Kate joining William, his father and brother, on several skiing holidays.

By early 2006, speculation was rife that an engagement announcement was imminent, with one High Street store even going so far as to commission commemorative memorabilia. It came as a shock to royal watchers, therefore, to discover in April that the pair had called time on the romance and were to go their own ways.

The separation didn't last long, however. By June there was speculation they'd rekindled their romance. And this seemed to be confirmed when in July Kate, accompanied by her mum, attended the Concert For Diana at Wembley Stadium – although the couple sat two rows apart and insisted they were "just good friends".

With reports they'd decided to give their romance a second chance filling the papers, the couple were careful to conduct their relationship out of the limelight, and were rarely seen out clubbing together at their old haunts.

In late 2007, Kate resigned from her job at Jigsaw and later went on to take up a production post with her parents' firm. Working for mum and dad meant she was able to take time out to join the Prince on foreign holidays, support him on the sidelines at polo matches and attend family events as their relationship once again grew in strength.

In November 2010, Clarence House confirmed that Prince William had proposed to Kate a month earlier, and that the couple were engaged and set to marry.

On April 29 2011, Kate officially stepped into the royal circle and left her previous life as a commoner behind.

The setting for the wedding of the century was Westminster Abbey. The bride was radiant in an Alexander McQueen ivory lace and silk dress featuring rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs, representing the four countries of the United Kingdom.

She walked out Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge; from now on her every move would be headline news around the globe.

Fashionistas approved of her 'high-low' style, which married designer labels with High Street brands such as Topshop, Reiss and Zara.

The Duchess also won plaudits for her charity work with organisations such as Action on Addiction, East Anglia's Children's Hospice, The Scout Association and The National Portrait Gallery benefitting from her support.

There have been tricky moments along way such as when she and her husband were photographed in intimate circumstances on a holiday in France.

Aides issued a strongly worded statement on their behalf saying: "The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to The Duke and Duchess for being so."

French courts granted the Cambridges an injunction against publishers of the images.

Their unity and natural rapport has delivered other notable successes including their tour of Canada and the United States shortly after their wedding, their support for Team GB at the Olympics and the triumph of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

When it was announced in 2012 that Kate was expecting her first child the reaction was one of universal delight. On 22 July the following year, she gave birth to a little boy whom the couple named George Alexander Louis.

Named for the Queen's father and grandfather, he will eventually reign as King George VII. His arrival was celebrated with gun salutes in Green Park and the Tower of London, while the bells at Westminster Abbey rang for three hours continuously.

The couple showed their little Prince off in a photocall outside St Mary's Hospital, London before whisking him off to the Middleton family home.

The King who will occupy the throne toward the end of the 21st century was to spend the first weeks of his life outside the walls of a palace, giving him the sort of excellent start that his mother herself had.

In September 2014, the royal couple announced that Kate was expecting again and George was soon to have a sibling.
